1. PageRank Technology: PageRank reflects our view of the importance of web pages by considering more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results.

PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote, as votes from some pages are considered to have greater value, thus giving the linked page greater value. We have always taken a pragmatic approach to help improve search quality and create useful products, and our technology uses the collective intelligence of the web to determine a page's importance.

Part The internet was originally a U.S.military project called ARPANET in 1969. The internet and the World Wide Web(WWW) are 2 different things. The internet is the interlock of computer which gives the ability for information to be transmitted. Search engines send out things called "spiders" to go through every web page and find the top/most wanted searches and brings the information to the search engines. Many searches have different amounts of web pages though, google has the most with 8.1 billion web pages, and Ask Jeeves is one of the lowest with 2.5 billion. There aren't many similar web pages between these different search engines. Some websites are not available from search engines like JSTOR or LexisNexis. Many techniques that can be used such as Phrase searching, Truncation, Boolean operators, and Search limits. Phrase searching allows you to find two or more words together using quotation marks (" "). Truncation searches by using characters as blank spaces(*,$).  Boolean operators allows you to mix search terms using things such as AND, OR, NOT. Search limits help to narrow down searches to specific topics by using things such as google's advanced search. Phrase searching is useful when looking for specific words/phrase to help narrow down a search. it's better to search for sources instead of just information. It's better to try and narrow a topic down by using these different search options, because it helps from making the sources become to broad or generalized.

I graded three other peoples digital stories.

I gave Brandon Helfer a 37 out of 40, his story was pretty good, but the music was kind of low and muffled.
I gave  Elliot Santiago a 36 out of 40, i gave him this grade because i don't get how a comic book is a cultural phenomena.
I gave Alex Garcia a 39 out of 40, his video really revealed the affects of poverty in the world.

I did my third digital story about Hurricane Katrina. Katrina formed in the Caribbean august 23rd 2005. It was only a category one hurricane, but when it reached the U.S. coast it had gained power and was a category three. the hurricane destroyed New Orleans. the city is below sea level so it was flooded. The levee system was supposed to prevent this, but it failed. my Slide show is about the Devastation that Katrina left behind in Louisiana

I did my second digital story on global warming. Some say it is an elaborate hoax set up by some individuals to make money, others say it is an epidemic. I agree with both. Humans definitely are not helping the environment, but i don't think that we are destroying it to the degree that the media claims. Hope you enjoy the video.

Im going to make my second digital story about global warming. Some say that it is a real problem, and others say it is an elaborate hoax. in my story we will look at both sides of the argument. if it is real, it is an epidemic that will affect everyone and everything on this planet. If people don't start taking the proper steps to preventing it now, soon it will be out of control. this is why Im doing my second digital story on global warming.

I evaluated 3 digital stories. Click here to check it out.

The Digital story "The Car I love" had nothing to do with the graduate profile. It didn't exhibited
any of the qualities mentioned in the profile. Never the less it was still a great story, I recommend watching it. It was a bout a teacher from georgia and the birth of his autistic son. he describes some of the struggles that he and his wife went through in the early years of his child's life.

This is just a short video about my identity in the 21st century. to me the 21st century is about technological advancements in society. Im not really into computers, so the only thing that i do that has to do with technology is Gaming. Im a big gamer, if Im at home and have nothing to do, Ill play my Xbox. I love to test my skills against people all over the world, it gets really competitive. Some times I get so consumed by it that five hours will go by and it will seem like a 1/2 hour. So the majority of this video is about my favorite games and companies, hope you like it.

Im a fifteen year old boy. my Birthday is December 4th , Im Sagittarius. I live  with my Brother and Mom, my parents are divorced. Im 1/2 Irish, and 1/2 Puerto Rican. My mom's side of the family is Irish, and my Dad's side is puerto Rican. My nationality real doesn't  mean that much to me. I live in Staten Island New York. I like living close to the city, it's a fun place to visit. My first school was the Wagner college pre-school program, then i  went to P.S.45, i was there from Kindergarden to first grade. Then i went to ST.Paul's  for the first two months of third grade, i Didn't like it there so I left and went to ST.John's Lutheran. I was there from Third to eighth grade. I really liked it there, it is so far my favorite school. When i graduated i came here to CSIHSIS, so far I have no complaints about this school, i hear allot of people say they hate it here, I don't think that this school can be much different than all the other public schools on the island. I still don't know where Im going to end up going to college, but i have a feeling Im going to CSI. I'm a big Gamer , i like console gaming, not so much PC.I have every system, but my favorite is my xbox 360. My favorite games are Halo 3 and Modern warfare 2. In the future i want to be a video game Programer. The only sport that i follow is Football, Im a big Giants fan, my whole family is. I actually started following the sport when i was about seven. I also love paint-balling, i used to paintball like twice a month, but i haven't gone in a while. its a great game. I like cousins paintball on staten Island, but my favorite place to go is this little place in the Poconos that i go to with my friends.
